The Smithy - CLAY STUDIO MANAGER -- Full Time

The Smithy Clay Studio is seeking a studio manager and lead instructor. Candidate must have a BFA in ceramics or equivalent experience, MFA degree is preferred. Candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills, show initiative, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Teaching experience and knowledge of wheel throwing and hand building techniques is required. Responsibilities include but are not limited to programming development, clay and glaze preparation, kiln firing and maintenance, and maintaining a safe studio environment. A successful candidate will be compensated with a fixed base salary. This position does not include healthcare or retirement benefits, but does include flexible schedule, generous vacation time, small private office and studio space, free firing and access to dry materials, and sale opportunities at both The Smithy Gallery and Cooperstown Art Association.
