The Cooperstown Art Association proudly presents the 34th Annual Fenimore Quilt Club Show which opens Saturday, February 1st and runs through Sunday, February 16th. Within easy walking distance of downtown Cooperstown, and falling over Cooperstown Winter Carnival Weekend, this is a show not to be missed! This highly anticipated exhibit will showcase a diverse array of over 50 quilts and other quilted items in both traditional and contemporary designs. This year’s collection will exhibit quilts created by many talented men and women ranging from bed quilts, lap quilts, wall hangings, and more! Both old and new quilts will be featured and several will be for sale.
This year we are honoring Betty Giffin with a special display and sale in the small gallery. Elisabeth “Betty” Giffin was a founding and active member of The Fenimore Quilt Club. The first meetings when they were taught the art of quilting were held in her living room. She always enjoyed sitting at the shows and chatting with visitors and was a force to be reckoned with until the end. Betty died July 8, 2024 at the age of 95.
Members of the Fenimore Quilt Club will be present each day to answer any questions you might have about their craft. Don’t miss the floral inspired raffle quilt made by all the members of the Fenimore Quilt Club! This collector’s gem will be on display for the duration of the show and the winning raffle ticket will be drawn Sunday, February 16th. Tickets will be sold for $1 each or 6 for $5 with the proceeds benefiting the Fenimore Quilt Club and local organizations.
In addition to the raffle quilt, the Fenimore Quilt Club has been busy sorting donated fabric scraps, pieces, yardage, and patterns which will be available for sale throughout the show while supplies last. All proceeds from the sales benefit local food pantries.
