M ade in New York & The Myth of Creation

The Cooperstown Art Association is excited to be showcasing two new exhibits. The 19th Annual Made in New York: The Art of the Vessel invitational fine craft show & A solos show of new prints & paintings by Amir R. Hariri, The Myth of Creation.

Made in New York will be on display in Gallery through September 24th. The Art of the Vessel features an impressive collection of functional and non-functional creations in all media by 45 talented local and regional craftspeople all exploring the vessel theme which will include bookshelves, purses, canoes, napkin rings, teapots, baskets and more!

In Gallery B, Amir R.Hariri is exhibiting “The Myth of Creation”, an intriguing array of intricately detailed prints and paintings. Amir was born in Tehran, Iran, and immigrated to the U.S. to attend college in the early 1990's. He has been studying at the Art Students League of New York with Michael Pellettieri since 2007, focusing on printmaking with further specialization in stone lithography. Amir states, “I draw to awaken the voices that fade when reality intrudes.” His work incorporates his studies in anatomy, architecture and mechanics into an organic, “bio-mechanical” unity. Most of the work presented attempts to explore the interwoven relationships between myth, religion, philosophy and science. For more information on Amir’s work please visit www.amirrhariri.com.

Both exhibits will run through September 24th. The CAA Galleries are located at 22 Main St., Cooperstown. Special Gallery Hours for Labor Day Weekend are Daily 10-5pm.
